I think it’s a Ford Maverick, but wait for someone to confirm.

Definitely a Maverick. I had one in high school. Peppy 302 and was fun to drive. I wish it had a stick though.

YASSSSS MAVERICK!
I have an irrational love for Mavericks.
Also, a Maverick with Ohio plates shouldn’t exist anymore...it should’ve rusted away a long time ago in the land of salt.

I don’t think I had ever seen one in operational order. Every other Maverick I have seen has been parked in a driveway decomposing or in a field and already a carcass
Truth be told: this car wasn’t in good shape either. The rear looks decent but the front was banged up and the windshield was shattered

Around 10 years ago was the last time I saw an operational Maverick in the flesh. A neighbor had a visitor who was driving a Maverick Grabber. I swear it sounded like that engine was tearing apart the fabric of space and time...it was danged loud...probably straight pipes. I giggled like a 6 year old.
Viewing the pic in full size, I can see the shattered windshield now.

When my (now) wife and I started dating many years (decades?) ago, she had a brown Maverick with a straight six and a 3-speed on the tree. 70's cars didn’t have a stellar reputation for quality or longevity, yet that thing had somehow survived a quarter million miles at that point... yes, 250,000+ on the odometer (edit - no, the odo didn’t actually show 250000 since it only had 5 digits; it had rolled over twice so it only displayed 50k+) . And it showed. It was one of the most worn out cars I’ve ever dealt with. The rust was phenomenal; the rear quarters in particular were so rusted that the trunk was pretty much unusable except for the spare tire - anything smaller would fall out holes in the rusted fenders. Needless to say, the car was very unreliable and pretty much a death trap. Once we got engaged, I bought her a Ford Escort to replace it... not a big upgrade, but all I could afford at the time. Neither myself nor my wife have too many sentimental feelings about Ford Mavericks...
